To celebrate the life of one of America's true culinary darlings, Jackson’s Steakhouse is proud to present ‘Jackson's and Julia: A Celebration of the 101st Birthday of Julia Child’, Friday, August 15
th from 11 am to 10 pm. A culinary icon, Child’s rose to fame through her books and television programs, she demonstrated that cooking doesn't need to be intimidating and its okay to make mistakes. The food world has evolved a great deal since Julia was starting out, and its tremendous growth is in large part attributable to her singular influence.
To honor her 102
nd birthday, Jackson's Steakhouse will be offering special features for lunch and dinner service in her honor. Although she adamantly insisted that she wasn't a "chef," Child demonstrated her mastery of French cuisine with unparalleled grace and ease. Known for her always charming personality and quotes like “The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook”, and “Always remember: If you're alone in the kitchen and you drop the lamb, you can always just pick it up. Who's going to know”, Child left a legacy that bridges the gap from generation to generation in the kitchen.
In addition to our regular lunch menu, Chef Irv Miller has created a Julia Child-inspired featured salad as well as a featured entrée. The salad is a take on Julia’s recipe for Niçoise Salad — artisanal greens, green beans, shallots, tomatoes, capers, tuna, anchovy fillets and black niçoise olives. The entrée feature will be the beloved favorite and classic recipe, Coq au Vin — chicken in red wine with onions, mushrooms and bacon.
For dinner, Chef Irv will offer a smaller, dinner Niçoise Salad with artisanal greens, green beans, shallots, tomatoes, capers, tuna, anchovy fillets and black olives and for the entrée feature, one of Julia’s timeless recipes: Beef Bourguignon — stewed beef, bacon, onions, carrots, red wine, fresh herbs and mushrooms — will be available.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some of Julia Child’s most-loved recipes.
