Pensacola JazzFest

 

Pensacola, Fla. -- Come jazz it up at the 34th annual Pensacola JazzFest, April 1-2, in historic downtown Pensacola's Seville Square. The Southeast Tourism Society recognizes the festival as a "Top 20 Event in the Southeast for April 2017."
 
Headliners include West Coast super trumpeter Wayne Bergeron; international jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer and recording artist Greg Abate and his quintet (Fred Domulot, Mike Esneault, Steve Gilmore and Bobby Koeble); Nashville's high-energy and hard-swinging Annie Sellick and the Hot Club; and Orlando's Fusion Beat famous for its jazz, world music, Latin and funk. The lineup also includes the Don Snowden Big Band, the Gulf Coast Collegiate All-Star Jazz Band, as well as many greater Pensacola area high school and college jazz bands.

The two-day event is free. The fun starts 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, with the last performance starting at 5 p.m. It continues 11 a.m. Sunday, April 2, with the last performance starting at 6 p.m. Seating is limited so feel free to bring your own lawn chairs.

Pensacola JazzFest also features "Jazz Jam for Kids" with complimentary harmonicas and kazoos, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, soft drinks, adult beverages at the Beer Tent, plus a Merchandise Tent where you can purchase the 2017 and past Pensacola JazzFest posters, Pensacola JazzFest T-shirts, CDs by performing artists, plus vinyl from Jazz Pensacola's collection.


The 2017 Pensacola JazzFest poster, "Trumpet Man," is the creation of artist Sarah Turner, a graphic designer at EW Bullock who has won numerous Addy Awards for her work on local, regional and national levels as well as recognition for her photography, oil paintings and poster designs. "Trumpet Man" complements Turner's 2010 Pensacola JazzFest poster design "Piano Player."

Jazz Pensacola is a non-profit organization of business and professional people, musicians, teachers, students and listeners working together for the purpose of advancing jazz music and education in Pensacola and the surrounding area. Jazz Pensacola presents the annual festival to the community as a gift, which is made possible by the support of faithful jazz fans, corporate and individual sponsors, and state grants.
